Coronavirus (COVID-19)

On Wednesday, the World Health Organisation declared the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) to be a pandemic. That acknowledgement was met with little surprise, for the seriousness of the virus and the likelihood for it to become widespread has become evident to all in recent weeks.

This is a bigger problem for public health than for the economy, with the risk to older people and those with existing health problems being of particular concern. Amid all of the worry, I think it is helpful to remember what we have learned about this virus so far - that it can be contained (as the Chinese experience shows), that it can be avoided (by washing hands for 20 seconds with warm soapy water, by limiting face-to-face contact within 2 meters, and by sterilising surfaces), and that symptoms in most cases are quite mild.

The UK Government is presently not enforcing the more stringent measures which have been implemented elsewhere. Even so, we at Day’s Rental are preparing to adjust our working practises to reduce the risk of spreading the virus between clients, by arranging fewer face-to-face meetings and increasing contact by phone & email, and with some of our staff enabled to work from home if it should become necessary.

We have increased the levels of vehicle cleaning to minimise the spread of the virus with the use of disinfectant products etc..
